Navigation Lights Control & Operation System | Electropneumatic S.A.

System Overview

The Electropneumatic’s Professional Navigation Lights Control & Operation System (NLCOS) is a trustworthy Marine Technology developed for controlling/switching on/off the vessel’s navigation lights and signal lights (i.e., NUC lights and RAM lights), while presenting an automatic visual
and audible warning in the event of a navigation light’ s failure. It is a Programmable Electronic System (PES) suitable to be used in all types of
ships (Tugboat, Container ships, Tankers, Passenger ships, Yachts, Double Ended Ferryboats, etc.) over 12 meters long. The system’s module is configured
in accordance with the customer’s needs as well as vessel’ s type & length.

The system is designed and constructed to meet the applicable requirements of COLREG 72, the current Commission Implementing Regulation
(EU) for the application of MED Directive 2014/90/EU (for EU flagged vessels), specific Flag Administrations’ requirements, as well as the applicable Rules of the major Maritime Classification Societies.

Why Choose Our NLCO System?

System Key Features

Main and emergency source of power with a means of automatic and manual transfer between the two sources.

Independent branch circuit of each light fitted with a respective protective device.

The status of navigation lights is presented to the system’s high-definition touchscreen panel in multiple selectable screens. All available information is given in a user-friendly way and is presented both in written form and in graphics (mimics).

For duplicate navigation lamps on mast head, sides and stern positions, the system has two outputs for  each lamp. A main lamp output and a spare lamp output. The spare lamp is automatically activated in case of failure of the main lamp.

Indication for each NL’s condition, as well as a means to disconnect.

Alarm in case of power failure or a particular lamp failure.

Automatic visual and audible warning in the event of a nav. light failure.

Audible device connection to a separate power supply so that the audible alarm is still activated in the event of power or circuit failure to the navigation lights.

The failure of the visual signal device does not cause the extinction of the navigation lights.

In case LED type Navigation Lights are used, the system presents an alarm to notify that the luminous intensity of the light reduces below the level required by COLREG 72.

Depending on Customer’s requirements, the system’s touchscreen panel can be installed in a separate space (e.g. bridge console) from its Collecting and Processing Cabinet.

The control panel supports the use of standardized serial interfaces for marine navigation and communication systems.

User-friendly interface. Easy to install and integrate with existing onboard systems under the guidance of Electropneumatic’s technicians.

Customizable configurations about the selection type (e.g. black or white Aluminum, Stainless Steel, etc.) of lights’ fixtures.
